About the piece:
Alicia Hayden is a young wildlife artist who enjoys working in biro to create pieces which showcase animal’s characters, and communicate environmental messages. ‘When the Whale Sang’ was created to demonstrate the impact of anthropogenic noise pollution on whales, and how it is harming their populations. The whale is fragmented into sonar noise waves to illustrate the connection between noise pollution and cetaceans. The message conveyed is how action must be taken to minimise the levels of this noise pollution in our oceans, before the damage creates irreversible repercussions for marine wildlife.

At least 50% of the proceeds from this sale will support the charitable work of David Shepherd Wildlife Foundation (DSWF) and our ground-based conservation partners across Africa and Asia.
