ABOUT THE ARTWORK
For thousands of years, cranes have followed invisible paths across the sky; today they are losing their way. The red-crowned crane represents the silent cry of habitats shrinking under industrialisation, war, and the climate crisis. The ruined background reflects how humanity turns nature into debris. The suspended origami crane highlights a poignant irony: we fold paper birds for hope, while real skies grow darker. Yet, a small green sprout whispers of nature’s resilience and our remaining chance.

ABOUT THE ARTIST
Born in 2008, Esila Yuksel is a self-taught artist who discovered painting not as a formal discipline, but as a vital way of breathing. Guided by a passion for visual storytelling, she developed her craft independently, earning admission offers from six internationally recognised universities before choosing AUB. As a Wildlife Artist of the Year 2026 finalist, Esila combines mixed media to give voice to nature’s fragile and unheard stories.
