ABOUT THE ARTWORK “Bombus Americana” depicts the entire community of American bumblebees. Presented alphabetically, each species’ queen, drone, and worker are rendered in meticulous taxonomic detail. Andrew paints an entire family rather than individual specimens. Five species. The cuckoo bumblebees produce no workers, and gaps are left within the arrangement. This assembled composition creates a visual rhythm reminiscent of buzzing wings. Balancing scientific precision with visual cadence, the work transforms a taxonomic display into a compelling meditation on insects, colour, and harmony.
Medium: Oil on canvas Category: Wings
