Tim, Amboseli, Kenya
About the piece:
Tim, a portrait of Kenya’s most famous elephant, is sculpted in bronze by Murray Grant, Kenyan wildlife sculptor and conservationist and cast using the lost wax process by Pangolin Editions Foundry, UK. Tim was an iconic elephant and wildlife ‘personality’ who lived in the unique Amboseli eco system for 51 years until his death in of natural causes in 2020. This sculpture in all its fine detail, brings this incredible elephant back to life and was based on weeks spent with Tim, hours of life sketches and observation. More than 17,000 photographs were taken for this project, to ensure that every wrinkle, every hair and even his expression is 100% accurate. Murray lives and breathes his artwork, researching species all over the African continent and sculpting from his studio and home on El Karama Conservancy, Laikipia Kenya, where he was born and where he has dedicated his life to wildlife conservation and art.
At least 50% of the proceeds from this sale will support the charitable work of David Shepherd Wildlife Foundation (DSWF) and our ground-based conservation partners across Africa and Asia.
