Amrita Mohanty’s watercolour painting is of a beautiful tangerine Leopard Gecko. Amrita was drawn to the deep shadows and curving arch of the gecko’s body, and said she instantly thought of how these small creatures survive in extreme climates. With the dark shadows Amrita wanted to capture the sun beating down on it’s small body, effortlessly adapted to survive the baking hot desert sands.
Amrita Mohanty is a self taught artist who rediscovered her love of watercolour painting in the first of the 2020 Covid-19 lockdowns. Watercolour has always been her favourite medium and animals are her passion. When she is not painting she is a veterinary researcher.
