About the piece:
Ashley Habernal is a self-taught artist from Canada, with her favourite subjects being wild animals. Her special focus is on ocean creatures. Her favourite medium is ink pen, which is demonstrated to great effect in ‘Sleeping Giants’. This artwork portrays the fascinating way that sperm whales sleep. It illustrates how they float vertically underwater like ethereal, motionless pillars, clustered in groups.
