Out of Sight, Out of Mind

Out of Sight, Out of Mind
Victoria West
About the piece:
Victoria is a professional artist specialising in a variety of subjects and mediums. One of her main interests is of British wildlife, wherever it turns up. ‘Out of Sight out of Mind’ was inspired by a walk Victoria took along the coastal path on a cliff top in Pembrokeshire. She paused a moment to look down into a quiet rocky cove where she witnessed this scene unfolding before her when she zoomed in on her camera. There were only a tiny number of these Grey Seals present and she noticed just two pups lying with their mothers basking in the sun on the pebble beach. Rather than paint a lovable scene of mothers with their pups, she felt the need to bring to the public’s attention what these creatures are having to put up with. Hence the image depicting these pups floating amongst rubbish that had been thoughtlessly tossed into the water.
