Lone Wolf

Lone Wolf
Zoe Fitchet
About the piece:
Zoe explores and expresses her love of the natural world through creating accurate and realistic, highly detailed portraits, learning about each subject before capturing them on paper or canvas. She predominantly works with coloured pencils, as their sharp points and ability to layer allows for intricate detail and texture. Using negative space to create focus on the subject, her wildlife pieces adopt a more contemporary look. ‘Lone Wolf’ depicts the African Painted Dog. The title of this piece was chosen to highlight the fact she has been drawn alone. These animals are usually part of a pack, so depicting this dog living on its own, she wanted to illustrate the declining numbers of these beautiful creatures in the wild. She wanted to create a life size portrait to really show the beauty of these incredible animals, with their stunning markings, amazing ears and powerful physique. It would be awful to see their numbers continue to decline, so Zoe is passionate about supporting conservation efforts to help them recover.
At least 50% of the proceeds from this sale will support the charitable work of David Shepherd Wildlife Foundation (DSWF) and our ground-based conservation partners across Africa and Asia.
