Inferno

Inferno
Finn Campbell-Notman
ARTWORK DESCRIPTION:
Finn’s drawing depicts the three bird species (Crane, Dove and Starling) mentioned in Dante’s ‘Inferno’. He used only Amazonian forest fire charcoal (which was sourced by the WWF in Brazil for him). This piece depicting the species within a burning environment was made in 2021 to coincide with the 700th anniversary of Dante. The piece also references historical altarpieces.
ARTIST BIOGRAPHY:
Finn Campbell-Notman was born in London in 1970 and grew up in rural Norfolk and Somerset. Over the years he has lived and worked in Cornwall, London, San Francisco, Brussels, Andalusia and Barcelona. Campbell-Notman believes that an artist is essentially a lens through which the universe is refracted. Each lens however is unique. The ongoing aim of his work is to make a particular lens as clear, focused, personal and distinctive as it can be.
