About the piece:
UK artist Melissa Gee loves the shape of this bird as it flies on beautiful, huge white wings, feathers rippling through the breeze. She wonders as he flies with purposeful grace – could he be a messenger from this realm to another? What secrets does he hold? Melissa holds inspiration for the background from the gemstone lapis lazuli, and as her piece evolved, it took on a semblance of a dark, ethereal landscape. A smattering of gold leaf adds to the abstract nature of the piece and balances beautifully with those yellow feet trailing behind.
