ARTIST BIOGRAPHY: Stephen Rew is an award winning wildlife artist based in South Wales. Whilst studying for an arts degree at Swansea University he spent time studying animals in the wild in India, the Middle East and Africa’s KwaZulu-Natal and it was there, in Africa, that long-term objectives to combine artistic practices with a love and respect for wildlife began to emerge. He dedicates a large portion of his time to working in close proximity to wildlife, where his inspiration is largely derived. He works closely with conservation charities to put his skills to use in a bid to make change and help animals in the natural world. Stephen was awarded the coveted title of Wildlife Artist of the Year 2019 by the David Shepherd Wildlife Foundation for his wall-mounted Octopus “Writhe”.
