The ability of the snow leopard to thrive in treacherous terrain stands testament to their adaptability and resilience. Yet the forces of human pressure and climate change render them extremely vulnerable. It is this duality – strength and fragility – that I sought to express.
MEDIUM: Cast slate
ARTIST BIOGRAPHY: For over three decades, Lucy d’Auvergne has explored the lives of wild and domestic animals through conservation, film, and art. Her work with species ranging from wild chimpanzees to Eurasian otters has shaped a profound understanding and empathy for non-human animals. Through sculpture she translates life experience into tangible, lasting forms. At the heart of her work is a desire to look beneath the surface – seeking to capture the essence of the individual. Her distinctive patination creates textured surfaces and organic tones evocative of the softness of fur—making each piece as unique as the animals that inspire her.
