A painted box, featuring a singing wren, which can be hung or be freestanding. My inspiration for this piece was the magical song of this little, common, brown bird. Shy and secretive with a hidden treasure.

MEDIUM: Mixed media on beechwood box with gold

ARTIST BIOGRAPHY: Madeline Downham (M. Winter) works maily in oils but also mixed media, including metals. She is prolific, her art represents her love and fascination with nature in its many varied shapes and forms. Animals (including humans) dominate her work. She has exhibited with a number of societies including the Society of Women Artists, the Society of Wildlife Artists at the Mall Galleries, Botanical Artists at Westminster Central Hall, the Society of Feline Artists at various London galleries and at the Cork Street gallery. The focus of her work is an intense interest in the main subject and there is often accurate detail.

All artworks will remain at the Mall Galleries, even if sold, until the exhibition concludes on 13 September 2025.
