This beautiful beech tree landscape is one of a pair of paintings gifted by David Shepherd in the late 50s or early 60s to the then Managing Director of Westlands Helicopters who had employed David to paint pictures of the aircraft they produced.
It is painted in David’s characteristic early style, and depicts a quintessential British beech woodland, with silvery trunks filling nearly the whole picture plane, surrounded by a carpet of russet leaves. The winter light is cool and luminescent.
The painting is in wonderful condition and framed in its original ornate frame.
