“My painting ‘New Beginnings’ is off to bees on a abstract background, which represents the tones of nature. Bees are believed to represent afterlife and rebirth. They’re a reminder that even the smallest creatures can have a big impact.” – Annabel Thornton

Artist bio

Born in Cheshire, Annabel studied at Cheltenham College of Art where she gained her BA Fine Art Honours Degree. Using dance and music as her primary focus, Annabel is concerned with the movement of the human form and transferring the graceful harmony and kinetics of the dancer onto her canvas.

She has an incredible understanding of her medium and employs many techniques, both traditional and contemporary, to reinforce the energy and strength of her subjects. Her bold and often daring use of colour serves to set the tone and atmosphere of the piece whilst drawing attention to specific details and inviting the viewer to engage with the artwork on a more experimental level.

‘Into the Wild’
Belgravia in Bloom 2023
In partnership with Catherine Best
22ND– 29TH May

Belgravia in Bloom is an annual floral art show, coinciding with the RHS Chelsea Flower Show each May. Local shops and brands are invited to showcase their creative skills, get into the seasonal spirit, and compete against one another for the best shopfront display – on Elizabeth Street – one of the prettiest streets in London. To celebrate this year’s theme of ‘Into the Wild’, David Shepherd Wildlife Foundation (DSWF) is delighted to be partnering with the internationally acclaimed luxury jewellery brand, Catherine Best, for this year’s event.

Hosted from Monday 22nd of May to Monday, 29th of May, at their new Elizabeth Street store, visitors can join in celebrating this annual event whilst browsing and purchasing our unique jewellery and wildlife artwork from DSWF’s talented artist community.

The Exhibition is a testament to the efforts of 10 incredible artists, each creating a piece in celebration of ‘Into the Wild’. Artwork from the exhibition is available for purchase with 50% going towards DSWF’s wildlife conservation work, alongside a portion from all sales of Catherine Best jewellery in-store during the week.
