Keyun Xiao travelled to the Himalayas in the winter of 2016, and was lucky enough to see this scene happening in front of her. A mother and a baby snow leopard were licking each other’s scars. It was a genuine moment that demonstrated motherhood, the exchange of love.

ARTIST BIOGRAPHY
Keyun Xiao is an award-winning 17-year-old artist living and working in California. She began painting aged five and has studied with instructors across China and the United States, currently focusing on acrylic and oil painting. Her painting celebrates the universal bonds between animals and humans, expressed through a world of symbolic imagery with direct observation of nature. She has received top awards from organisations such as the Scholastic Art and Writing Awards, the Congressional Institute, the Living Oceans Foundation, and Celebrating Arts
