The white owl is the guardian of the forest. The sculptor Aki Mimura’s aim is to capture this nobility through an abstract work that shows the natural geometric lines hidden within it. Aki considers carving stone to be a long journey, but facing stone every day while listening to its voice will bring it to life.

ARTIST BIOGRAPHY

Born in Shonan, Japan, Aki Mimura graduated from the Tama Art University Product Design Department and joined the Seiko Watch Corporation, where she designed numerous timepieces as a professional watch designer for eleven years. After travelling around Africa for several months, she learnt the beauty of nature and moved to Milan to express this beauty through her own creations. Aki became fascinated with marble and moved to Carrara to start stone-carving in 2020. In Carrara, she found the joy of sculpting all kinds of different stones, pursuing her own philosophy through these sculptures.
