Julia Cassels – Cheetah, Ode to Kafue

Original, Painting | 101 × 81 cm | Framed

Out of stock

Julia Cassels observed that with only 80 to 90 cheetah left in Zambia they were such a joy to see, especially in Kafue National Park where the decline has now begun to stabilise. The sun was perfect, capturing the cheetah’s unique supple feline ability to languidity, head turned, legs extended, with paw pads angled to cool.

Watercolour on paper

Julia Cassels, an award-winning wildlife artist, is never more at home than painting ‘plein air’ in the African bush. With deft strokes, she captures the spirit of the moment. Whether in Africa, Spain, or England, she infuses her paintings with the raw energy of the moment. Sketchbooks brim with swift fluid lines of movement, which evolve into vibrant watercolours or rich oils. Now living in the UK, Julia exhibits widely, promotes wildlife conservation and her work is found in collections worldwide. She runs art workshops, leads painting holidays, has written her own painting book and contributed to several more. Julia will hold her 6th Solo Show in November 2025.
