Shama Sahzayasin – E Scape

Mixed Media, Original | 37 × 49 cm | Framed

This painting is inspired by the blurring of human lives with technology. Shama explores her memories and dreams with kaleidoscopic watercolours contrasted with intimate drawings, tempered by love, and sources sustainable methods and art materials which are in alignment with her environmental ethics.

Watercolour, ink, and oil pastel on paper

Shama Sahzayasin is a ecofeminist artist based in London. Her work is a self-reflective enquiry prompted by dissonance between beauty and violence; accelerating in loss of bio-abundance intersecting with all manner of animals silenced in dominant, desensitised human-centred narratives: showing itself in a accelerating focus on other worlds and in the degradation and refusal of beauty in this one. Destruction and natality, death and beauty reappear in undecidable tension.
