Painted in the field in Kenya, the male Grevy zebra had impeccable timing, arriving at his watering hole at the same time every day. The painting playfully captures this beautiful animal, but the longer you look the more you feel the extremes of the environment weighing on the protagonist.

Freddy Paske is an award-winning figurative artist focusing on the relationship between what is shown and what is seen. The natural world is his source of inspiration. Freddy is internationally celebrated for his work as The Artist-in-Residence during the Queen’s Platinum Jubilee in 2022.
