Threadpainting (freehand machine embroidery) on painted canvas
After a long, dry African winter, the arrival of spring brought a welcome change. From my studio, I watched and listened as the male Southern Masked Weavers burst into action—chirping noisily and weaving their intricate nests with remarkable skill. Their tireless preparations and excited chatter felt like nature’s own celebration of the start of spring and the promise of new life.
