David Shepherd Exhibition – Rare Originals on Show

Precious David Shepherd artworks on show

A rarely-seen selection of David Shepherd’s artwork, drawn from the Shepherd family’s private collection, goes on show in Gloucestershire this month.

The one-off David Shepherd exhibition at ‘Nature in Art’ near Gloucester, includes examples of David’s wonderful wildlife paintings, as well as portraits and examples of his steam train and aeroplane work.

The precious artworks have been kindly loaned by David’s wife Avril and this could be the last time such a collection is ever seen in the county. The exhibition runs from Tuesday 22 May – Sunday 3 June.

  • Talk: In a celebration of David’s amazing life and legacy, Mandy Shepherd, professional wildlife artist and David Shepherd’s daughter, is also appearing at a special evening event, to talk about her life. The ticket-only event on Saturday 26 May will be a rare opportunity to view the family collection and hear Mandy’s personal anecdotes and tales about David – supported by a film. Proceeds will support the David Shepherd Wildlife Foundation.
  • Demonstration: Talented wildlife artist Jonathan Truss, who is one of the David Shepherd Wildlife Foundation’s partner artists, is also holding a painting demonstration day on Saturday 2 June.
  • Display: Plus, a display of paintings and demonstrations by The Wildlife Artists International (TWASI) will be running alongside the David Shepherd celebration events – the TWASI exhibitions can be seen from Saturday 26 May to Sunday 3 June.

Our sincere thanks are extended to Simon Trapnell, Director of ‘Nature in Art’ in Twigworth and his staff, for their wonderful support.
