About Swim Serpentine
Swim Serpentine is a one-day open water swimming event staged in the beautiful setting of the Serpentine in Hyde Park, the venue for the Marathon Swimming competition at the London 2012 Olympic Games.
The One Mile Swim: A classic distance in the world of open-water swimming events, the one-mile swim covers one full lap (1.6K) of the Serpentine. Swimmers take anywhere from 20 minutes to one hour to complete this distance.
The Two-mile Swim: A chance for those who would like to test themselves with two full laps of the Serpentine, and is aimed at more experienced swimmers who have previously completed a one-mile open water swim. The two-mile distance is also one of the three events that makes up the London Classics.
Why swim for David Shepherd Wildlife Foundation (DSWF)?
One million animal and plant species are now threatened with extinction. Environmental and wildlife protection has never been more important in safeguarding the future of our planet. Our mission is to Fight, Protect and Engage on behalf of endangered wildlife. We work tirelessly to fund ground ground-based conservation partners. Who operate on the front line in the fight against wildlife crime, protect some of the world’s last wildlife strongholds and engage with local communities to foster a peaceful coexistence with wildlife. Since our foundation launched in 1984, more than £11.5 million has been granted to direct conservation support. With your help, we can ensure a brighter future for wildlife.
