Julie Wilson is an animal sculptor who lives and works in rural Leicestershire. Several trips to Kenya have provided her with inspiration for her African work, although her pieces range from penguins to Himalayan snow leopards. Some of these are a direct result of photographs supplied by wildlife enthusiasts who know her work.
All her pieces are highly detailed, textured and very natural. They are made from coarse stoneware clay using slab building techniques and hand finished using slips and oxides. Her background is in fashion and design and pattern cutting skills learnt at Loughborough College of Art definitely helped her to produce these unique pieces.
