Oil on canvas.

An original painting pulsing with raw intensity, Heat and Power channels the drama and tension at the heart of lion society. Emily Lamb’s layered, expressive style brings the canvas to life with the heat of the sun, the charge of rivalry, and the sheer physicality of big cats in motion. Guided by her lifelong fascination with Africa, a place she describes as an “ancient realm” that continually shapes her work, Emily translates emotion into energy, and energy into light. The result is a vivid, dynamic tribute to the power structures that govern the wild, and to the timeless connection between predator, landscape, and spirit.

Thanks to Emily, 50% of the net proceeds from the sale of this artwork will support the charitable work of DSWF and our ground-based conservation partners across Africa and Asia.

More about
Emily Lamb
For Emily Lamb, art is in the blood. The eldest granddaughter of wildlife artist and conservationist, David Shepherd CBE, Emily showed signs of artistic talent from a very early age and achieved high grades in art at GCSE and A’ level. On leaving school she travelled through southern Africa, Australia, New Zealand, Malaysia, Cambodia and Thailand, before attending Falmouth University Art College where she studied the Foundation Course, before securing a place at the Charles H Cecil Studios in Florence.

With a professional artist as a grandfather and an aunt, Mandy Shepherd, who is a talented watercolourist, Emily’s artistic pedigree is a strong one, her talent, however, is very much her own.
