ABOUT THE ARTWORK
“Zebra’s Gaze” focuses on a single moment of connection. Drawn to the animal’s watchful eye and distinctive markings, Josie invites the viewer to look beyond the familiar stripes and consider the individual behind them. Layers of monochrome tones, softened with touches of gold, highlighting the zebra’s character and presence, transforming an animal often seen as part of a herd into a subject with its own story.

ABOUT THE ARTIST
Josie Ryan is an Irish wildlife artist whose work is shaped by years spent living and working across Africa and the Middle East. With a background in wildlife conservation and veterinary medicine, she brings a close understanding of the animals she paints. Her large-scale, intimate portraits celebrate the individuality, character and quiet presence of wildlife, while encouraging a deeper appreciation for the natural world and the need to protect it.
