ABOUT THE ARTWORK
“White on White” is an artwork made with Caran d’Ache and Faber-Castell coloured pencils on Magnani paper. It depicts a polar bear on a white surface, exploring both a visual and conceptual challenge: making visible what risks disappearing through subtle variations of mark and light. The work becomes a metaphor for the fragility of natural balances—the bear, nearly dissolving into the background, suggests a presence already fading into absence.

ABOUT THE ARTIST
Magali de Maistre graduated from an art-specialist high school in 2007, earning her academic diploma with honours in Turin, Italy, in 2011. Since 2008, she has worked as an illustrator for magazines and editorial projects, and her work has been featured in group exhibitions across Italy between 2023 and 2026. She primarily uses graphite and coloured pencils, focusing on tonal subtlety and precision. Alongside her personal practice, she creates commissioned drawings, including portraits, animals, houses, and interiors.
