Luangwa, Zambia. A fleeting glimpse as this female leopard surveys it’s territory. It was one of those glorious ‘if you wait patiently the image will come’ moments. I had spent quite some time with this beautiful leopard as she sat quietly in the fork of her favoured tree in South Luangwa National Park, Zambia. It was in the heat of the day, she was in no hurry to move around, opting to rest contentedly and I was happy just to spectate and savour the moment. The image I was seeking had not presented itself but eventually she languidly arose and peered out from her resting place at right angles to my position. I remember focusing my camera and saying silently to myself “please turn your head, just please turn your head”. After what seemed like an eternity, she turned for no more than a couple of seconds and I knew the image was made, a truly magical encounter.
