ABOUT THE ARTWORK Tavy Cleave is a dramatic river valley on Dartmoor. The River Tavy has cut through the granite rock over millions of years and formed this rugged feature which has a beauty of its own. This artwork imagines the change and environmental destruction should the temperature of the earth, brought about by mankind, exceed three degrees centigrade. In effect, the valley would revert to the time when it was formed by volcanic action millions of years ago.

ABOUT THE ARTIST Paul Vachon is an artist working in Devon. Since moving here thirty years ago his paintings have been inspired by the local Dartmoor landscape. Much of his work is abstract and depicts expression of this unique and fragile environment. More recently he has begun producing a series of ‘memory’ paintings defining pivotal and poignant times of his life experiences.
