ABOUT THE ARTWORK
“Regalia” explores ceremony, presence, and quiet authority through the red-tailed black cockatoo. Individually hand-cut and painted archival paper feathers are layered over a sculpted form, creating a work that balances delicacy with strength. Inspired by the language of theatre, where posture and silhouette can speak louder than action, the sculpture captures a moment of poised grandeur. Reflecting both the resilience and vulnerability of a species facing increasing environmental pressures, “Regalia” celebrates the beauty, fragility, and wonder of the natural world.

ABOUT THE ARTIST
Jamie Lord is a British contemporary wildlife sculptor best known for his paper patina sculptures and contemporary wildlife bronzes. Working across paper, bronze, and layered patinas, he creates sculptures that balance realism with atmosphere, drawing on behavioural observation, anatomy, and conservation. His work celebrates the beauty and fragility of wildlife while exploring the presence, individuality, and sense of wonder that connect us to the natural world, giving the wild a lasting voice through art.
