This beautiful rural landscape is one of a pair of paintings gifted by David Shepherd in the late 50s or early 60s to the then Managing Director of Westlands Helicopters who had employed David to paint pictures of the aircraft they produced.
It is painted in David’s characteristic early style, and depicts a typical British rural arable scene, serene with barely a wisp of cloud in the wintry blue sky, hedgerows devoid of their leaves, and fields ploughed and ready for the new season’s crop.
The painting is in wonderful condition and framed in its original ornate frame.
