ABOUT THE ARTWORK
In “Into the Light”, a lion steps forward from the shadows into the light. His steady gaze shows both strength and uncertainty, reflecting the fragile world many wild animals face today. The contrast between darkness and light creates a sense of hope and resilience, while also reminding us of the challenges wildlife continues to endure. Through layers of acrylic paint, the artist aimed to capture both the power and vulnerability of this magnificent animal.

ABOUT THE ARTIST
Lise Poulsen is a London-based acrylic artist whose work explores the character, emotion and presence of both wild and domestic animals. Inspired by the expressive gaze of her subjects, she creates vibrant wildlife paintings, pet commissions, and portraits that celebrate individuality and connection. In 2024, she held her solo exhibition, The Gaze of the Wild. Her work was featured in Portraits for NHS Heroes 2023, and she was shortlisted for the Wildlife Artist of the Year competition in 2025.
