A thousand suns in amber hair,
A sideways glance, a soulful stare,
With heavy heart & knowing eye
against a fractured, smoky sky.
The forest thins, the shadows creep.
A long-limbed dream…fading…sleep.

This detailed pyrography wood burning of a mature male orangutan on reclaimed wood depicts a message through an almost human expression—his gaze reflects the great sadness and weariness of losing his home and kin through deforestation. He knows not of what he has done, only its impact.
