ABOUT THE ARTWORK
“Drift” explores the unity and movement of the ocean through a swirling shoal of tuna encircling a man-made vessel. The fish guide the viewer’s eye around the form, creating a sense of continuous motion that echoes the rhythms of ocean currents and migration routes. The soft celadon glaze evokes the colour and depth of the sea, while the relationship between the ceramic form and the surrounding fish reflects the interconnectedness of marine life and human presence within the ocean environment.

ABOUT THE ARTIST
Megan White is a Kenyan-British ceramic artist whose work is inspired by a childhood on the Kenyan coast and a lifelong connection to the ocean. Influenced by marine ecosystems, wildlife, and environmental change, she creates sculptural ceramics that explore the beauty, resilience, and vulnerability of the natural world. Her practice combines careful observation with material experimentation, using clay to evoke the textures and forms of marine environments. Megan holds a Fine Art degree (Loughborough University) and international residencies in China.
