ABOUT THE ARTWORK
Constructed using florist’s binding wire and then mounted on a bare white canvas, the image has been closely cropped in order for the subject to feel confined, to symbolise the gradual destruction of their natural habitat. Chimpanzees are our closest living relatives so Sadie felt this treatment would strengthen the message.

Medium: Florist’s binding wire on canvas
Category: Facing Extinction

ABOUT THE ARTIST
Sadie has developed a system of working with florist’s binding wire creating monochrome 2D images combining her love of drawing and animals.

A 5-time Wildlife Artist of the Year finalist, and 2024 category winner, Sadie also participated in DSWF’s 2019 “Lion” online exhibition, as well as being winner of the 2018 Innovation Award from IN:SIGHT Exhibition Manchester, winner of the 2020 2D category Emerging Artist Award from Creates Gallery Monmouth, and a finalist in the 2024 International Open Art Competition by Art Unlimited.
