ABOUT THE ARTWORK A victim of a road traffic accident, the dead buzzard was found outside Rebecca’s studio. Drawn to its commanding presence and intricate natural form, she sought to preserve this fleeting encounter through the plaster-casting process.
The fine nature of the casting reveals remarkable detail. And the bare plaster finish leans to the fragility of the bird and its surroundings, creating a lasting record of its beauty and majesty, transforming a moment of loss into an act of quiet reverence.

ABOUT THE ARTIST Rebecca Rix-Meo explores the natural world through material, texture, and trace. Working with plaster, earth, and botanical elements, alongside found organic forms, she creates pieces that feel both unearthed and preserved—capturing fragile moments that might otherwise disappear.
Her practice is shaped by the natural processes of erosion, growth, and decay. Preserving delicate and transient forms, wings, animal tracks, and fragments of plant life—holding them in a state between presence and absence.
