ABOUT THE ARTWORK
Australian gang-gangs have a raucous and scratchy chatter like most other cockatoo species, and are often heard before seen. They have distinctive grey bodies and the males have fabulous scarlet helmets with wispy crests. Lucy has wonderful memories of gang-gangs from her childhood, seeing them feasting on hedgerows of fermenting hawthorn berries (an introduced species), and enjoying the festivities too much as they were found passed out on the grass below.

ABOUT THE ARTIST
Lucy McEachern is a renowned bronze sculptor drawing inspiration from her rural Australian surroundings. Brought up in the south west of Victoria on a farming property, Lucy has developed a deep affinity with the enchanting birds that dwell in the local landscape. McEachern’s sculptures can be found in galleries throughout Australia and collections worldwide.
