ABOUT THE ARTWORK
This 2-piece bronze sculpture depicts a polar bear mother and cub nestled together. The cub looks trustingly up to its mother, secure in the haven of her protective shadow. The patina represents the glacial world they inhabit.

ABOUT THE ARTIST
Stephanie Hess is a Dublin-based artist known for her joyful bronze sculptures and distinctive coloured patinas. Inspired by the animal kingdom, Stephanie observes her subjects with a playful eye, interpreting their characteristics with a sense of whimsy and tenderness. Her work is held in collections worldwide and has earned major awards, including the 2025 Hamilton Architects Sculpture Prize and the 2015 ESB Moran Award for Outstanding Sculpture. Notable commissions include a red panda sculpture for Dublin Zoo’s Himalayan Habitat.
