ABOUT THE ARTWORK
“Look Out” depicts a young male lion looking out from the tree he rests in as he seeks breeze and a shady refuge from the heat of the day. From this vantage point he can observe any unsuspecting prey that wanders closer, who will also need to ‘look out’. Finally, mankind needs to ‘look out’ for the threats we place upon the survival of lions and the wilderness they exist in.

Medium: Oil on canvas board
Category: Facing Extinction

ABOUT THE ARTIST
Sarah’s oil paintings are created using loose and expressive mark-making. The visible brushstrokes create movement and capture light and colour. This style of painting invites the viewer to see and understand the subject, yet on closer inspection, see the collection of brush-marks and colour that convey it. Time spent observing animals and a background in zoology, help Sarah’s paintings capture fleeting moments of behaviour as she celebrates nature through art.
