Guardian of the Lake

ABOUT THE ARTWORK
This painting depicts Harry the mute swan, who lives on the lake in Knowle Park in Cranleigh, Surrey. He and his mate, Sally, guard their beloved water from the Canada geese who try every year to make a nest and raise young. Harry is known for standing his ground against dogs when their owners let them get too close. This year the pair are very proud of their four new cygnets. Family bliss in all its glory!

ABOUT THE ARTIST
Rob Perry is a British artist whose work spans portraiture and commercial illustration. Since graduating from art school in 1992, he has built a successful freelance career, first gaining recognition for his striking sporting imagery. In 2024, he appeared on Sky Arts Portrait Artist of the Year, painting historian Dan Snow. His work has also gained significant online attention, particularly a robin painting inspired by a teabag stain, which attracted nearly 6 million views on Instagram.
