ABOUT THE ARTWORK
Pangolins are the most trafficked mammals in the world, with most trafficking in African species smuggled to Asia. Pangolins are in high demand in countries like China and Vietnam.

More than 1,000,000 pangolins have been trafficked over a 10-year period, with 2019 data indicating that a pangolin is poached every three minutes. 8.5 million pangolins were taken from the wild for the illegal trade between 2014-2021.

Piers wanted to create an image where nothing could get lost in translation.

Having been involved in corporate design for over 20 years, Piers is now known for producing high quality, true to life portraits and images in his Hampshire studio.

Rather than attempting to portray his subjects as hyper-real, utilising intuitive aesthetic choices and gestural strokes he provides a personal edge to each piece that culminates in an imaginative, joyful visual experience.
