Madeline finds an elephant’s eye to be magnetic to her gaze, and was inspired to paint this connection.

Using mixed media to create the rugged wall of texture of the elephant’s skin, the eye looks out—intelligent and clear—asking to be seen.

ABOUT THE ARTIST
Madeline Downham M.Winter is as confused about her main obsession as she is about her name!

Her art is a necessity, from which she earns her living, having taught it for over 30 years and exhibited and sold it for longer.
The natural world is her inspiration. She has begun using environmentally safe materials and looking into recycling surfaces.
