“When Ghosts Get Spooked!” captures a moment of sudden alertness. A ringtail is interrupted mid-grooming and scans its surroundings for signs of danger. A two-tone graphite and white chalk drawing on coloured paper, the piece is rooted in close observation of wildlife, with presence, alertness, and atmosphere working together to convey the ringtail lemur’s state of mind. Its softness, sensitivity, and quiet emotional tension are all trademarks of Christof ‘s work.

ABOUT THE ARTIST
Christof Simons is a Belgian artist trained at the Kunstacademie aan Zee (KaZ) in Ostend, where he specialised in tonal drawing in graphite and ink. His work sits between fine art and illustration, combining precise composition with sensitive draughtsmanship. Rooted in close observation of wildlife, his drawings often grow organically from the page, gradually developing into studies of the animals’ emotional or physical state, capturing moments of alertness, vulnerability, and tension.
