ABOUT THE ARTWORK
“Two of Us” depicts two chimpanzees deeply engrossed in communication, appearing almost human in the process.

This artwork is meant to remind us that we humans are not alone in this world; that the living beings around us are not so different from us in so many ways; and that we therefore owe it to them to preserve their habitat just as we would wish for our own.

ABOUT THE ARTIST
Annika Schmitt is a coloured pencil artist from Germany. She began drawing as a child and has continued to refine her technique in recent years. She has been working full-time as an artist for pet and wildlife portraits since 2021 after completing her architecture degrees, and started teaching drawing classes in 2025.
