David Shepherd Wildlife Foundation’s Wildlife Artist of the Year 2025 (WAY) exhibition is almost here and we can’t wait to welcome you to the Mall Galleries, London, from Tuesday 9 – Saturday 13 September 2025.

Whether you’re joining us to explore the breathtaking artwork on display, to take part in an inspiring workshop, or to enjoy one of our special events, here’s everything you need to know to plan your visit.

🎨 Exhibition Highlights

This year’s WAY exhibition opens in spectacular style, with a week-long programme of events designed to inspire, engage, and celebrate the power of art for wildlife.

Live Painting with Pie Herring – Tuesday 9 September, from 11am

Watch acclaimed figurative artist Pie Herring create a striking, spontaneous mural live outside the Mall Galleries. Once complete, the mural will be exhibited inside and available for purchase.

The Collaborative Canvas – from Tuesday 9 September, 12pm onwards

London’s largest-ever evolving wildlife artwork invites every visitor to make their mark. Pick up a brush and join in – all materials are provided.

In Conversation Series

• Max Denison-Pender & Andy Parkinson (Wed 10 September, 10.30am – 12pm)
• Julia Collins & Natasha Hulse (Fri 12 September, 10.30am – 12pm)

Join leading voices from the art world in dynamic panel discussions on creativity, ethics, and conservation. Tickets £40.

• Graphite Pencil Workshop with Tom Middleton – Wed 10 Sept, 3–4.30pm

• Watercolour Workshop with Wendy Rigg – Fri 12 Sept, 1–2.30pm
• Soft Pastel Workshop with Rebecca Prout – Fri 12 Sept, 3–4.30pm

Each session includes expert tuition and a complimentary set of Derwent artist materials to take home. Tickets £30.

Guest Exhibitors

Alongside this year’s finalists, we’re proud to present three extraordinary guest exhibitors.

• Sarah Lake. Our 2024 Overall Winner returns with Paper Safari, a bold new collection of intricate, large-scale wildlife portraits created entirely from layered paper.
• Mandy Shepherd. Daughter of DSWF Founder David Shepherd CBE, Mady unveils Africa and Beyond, capturing the landscapes and wildlife that have shaped her life and work.
• Rachel Bigsby. Wildlife photographer and conservationist Rachel showcases powerful imagery that blends scientific insight with artistic vision in her Of Salt and Sky collection.
