Artwork by Mandy Shepherd

Having lived and worked in the Falkland Islands, South Africa, Zimbabwe, and Zambia — countries rich in both conservation and military heritage — Mandy’s canvases are infused with authenticity. Her military commissions have taken her aboard aircraft carriers and into unpredictable destinations, while her wildlife work is grounded in years spent immersed in the African bush.

Unveiled as part of Wildlife Artist of the Year 2025, Africa and Beyond brings together intricate wildlife studies and poignant military scenes in her signature, soul-stirring style. It is a celebration of heritage, a reflection of a life lived in service of both art and impact, and a testament to the enduring power of creativity to connect us to what matters most.

So plan your visit to the Mall Galleries this September and don’t miss the magic of Mandy’s mini exhibition.

Renowned for her emotive, finely detailed paintings, Mandy Shepherd stands at the crossroads of wildlife, military, and portrait art, blending each with a style that is unmistakably her own. The daughter of the late, great David Shepherd CBE, she honours her father’s extraordinary artistic legacy while forging a deeply personal path — one shaped by a life of adventure, dedication, and creative exploration.

Trained at the Byam Shaw School of Art in London and later in Brighton, Mandy developed a unique visual language that marries technical precision with emotional depth. Her paintings are as varied as her experiences — from the thunder of a charging elephant to the quiet dignity of a military portrait — each telling a story rooted in places and moments she has truly lived.

As Art Ambassador for DSWF, Mandy has travelled the globe, exhibited internationally, and donated countless works to raise vital funds for frontline conservation. She is a passionate advocate, a gifted storyteller, and an artist who uses her platform to inspire the next generation.
