The biggest threat to the snow leopard is the illegal wildlife trade. Help us protect them and adopt a snow leopard from just £3 per month.
Snow leopards slip silently and unnoticed across their diminishing range, but now, the ‘ghost of the mountain’ is in danger of disappearing altogether.
Hunted for their fur, skin, and parts, snow leopards are victims of illicit poaching and the illegal wildlife trade. And when forced to prey on livestock, as more natural sources are encroached upon, they also suffer retaliatory killings from human-wildlife conflict. Snow leopards are also threatened by habitat loss through climate change and human expansion. Already, they face losing 30% of its range and habitat in the Himalayas alone.
David Shepherd Wildlife Foundation (DSWF) fund vital projects that will directly safeguard the snow leopard’s future. Snow leopard adoption through DSWF is a fun and impactful way you can make a difference too. Adopt a snow leopard from just £3 a month.
Just £3 per month (or £36 one-off) could provide vital camera trap equipment to observe and monitor snow leopards
Only £5 per month (or £50 one-off) could engage with local communities living alongside snow leopards, supporting human-wildlife coexistence
With £10 per month (or £60 one-off) you’ll help fund vital research monitoring snow leopard populations in Mongolia
You’ll get a personalised certificate, species fact sheet, animal bio sheet, and a photograph. In addition we will send you bi-annual updates on our conservation work with your chosen species.
DSWF’s magazine, bringing you conservation news and updates on our work to fight wildlife crime and protect endangered species.

Sponsoring a snow leopard helps fund projects working with local communities to monitor their movements, reduce poaching, and raise awareness of the threats they face. In addition, your support can help us:
Dagina is DSWF’s snow leopard ‘super mum’. She resides at high altitudes, in the mountains of Tost Tosonbumba Nature Reserve, a sanctuary established by DSWF, our conservation partners, and the Mongolian government. Not only is Tost Tosonbumba now one of the world’s largest continuous protected snow leopard habitats, it has enabled Dagina to become one of the most well-studied snow leopards ever.
Dagina has been tracked by our conservation partners, the Snow Leopard Trust (SLT), since her birth in 2009. Since then, she has brought four new generations of this threatened species into the world – having had her most recent litter at the age of ten. So, now you know why we call her super mum!
By adopting Dagina today, you are helping DSWF secure a future for these elusive big cats, by preventing snow leopard habitat loss and human-wildlife conflict, and enabling us to fight the illegal wildlife trade.
Support us by protecting these beautiful animals and stay up to date on all the latest snow leopard news!
