ABOUT THE ARTWORK The sculpture of a cockatoo plucking its own feathers is not merely a depiction of a suffering animal, nor an appeal to our pity; it is a chilling mirror image. With each passing day, we consciously and unconsciously destroy the air, our health, and the future of us all. The self-destruction of the caged bird thus becomes a direct metaphor for our own global self-harm, taking place here and now.
