ABOUT THE ARTWORK
Three porcelain Pacific saury are mounted on an antique wooden breadboard once used to prepare food. Combining a familiar domestic object with fragile porcelain, the work reflects our changing relationship with the sea. The fish appear as quiet traces rather than food, inviting us to consider the hidden impact of overfishing, pollution and environmental change. They are ghosts from the sea—fragile reminders that, without care, these species may one day exist only in memory.

ABOUT THE ARTIST
Ikuko Iwamoto is a Japanese ceramic artist based in London. Inspired by the wildlife and landscapes of her coastal upbringing in Wakayama, Japan, she creates porcelain sculptures exploring the relationship between humans and the natural world. Recent works focus on marine ecosystems, overfishing, and environmental change, transforming vulnerable species into poetic ceramic forms. Through her practice, she seeks to foster a deeper connection with nature and encourage reflection on our responsibility towards the living world.
