ABOUT THE ARTWORK
“Ecosystem, After” explores what remains when systems of value, extraction, and abundance begin to collapse. Moving from light into density, the work traces a quiet shift from colour and cohesion to fracture and weight. Made from recycled eggshells—fragile and discarded—the material becomes both medium and metaphor. The subtle presence of pollinators within the shells points to the essential role of insects in sustaining biodiversity, even within damaged systems.

ABOUT THE ARTIST
Holly Budge is a mixed-media artist whose practice explores ecological fragility, coexistence, and environmental loss. Drawing on first-hand experiences in conservation across Africa, her work uses symbolic materials and storytelling to examine the relationship between humans and the natural world. Holly is the founder of “How Many Elephants” NGO and “World Female Ranger Week”, initiatives supporting wildlife conservation and female rangers globally. In 2025, she won the “Facing Extinction” category at Wildlife Artist of the Year.
